HAPPY FALL

Saturday 09/22/2012 was the first official day of fall~
I am so excited that fall has finally arrived. This is my favorite season of all. When the air turns crisp and cool, and the smells of autumn are floating in. The foliage begins to turn those rich colors of amber, orange, deep red, and yellow. Cashmere sweaters are brought out of hiding from the back of the closet, pumpkins are for sale at the local markets, and everyone is seemingly feeling a little more generous. Now I can enjoy a cup of hot coffee on the back porch in the early morning, listening to nature welcome in this delightful time of year. I pray that God will bless you richly this fall and may you and your loved ones be a blessing to those around you.

Autumn Decorating

Decorating for Fall has begun! I love bringing all the earth and jewel tones into my home to create beautiful things to celebrate this season. I made a wreath for our front door (pictured above) that I adore. I love how unique it is. I wanted something that would catch the eye and definitely stand out. It was very simply made and hardly cost me a thing.

Here is another one of my creations....Again this didn't cost me much, a few dollars at the most. I already had alot of the ribbons I used for the wreath and this flower arrangement. It isn't hard to put together decorations with things that you may already have. I rummaged my craft closet and found a bunch of left over ribbons and material from projects past.

I found these adorable glittery pumpkins at the dollar store. I piled them in a vase and set them on my island in the kitchen. The bright and shimmery colors add a little pop to the scenery.

And of course I love the little window stickers that give an extra dab of cuteness to the house. Plus Jacob likes them!

Fall is so much fun to decorate for. I am sure you all will be making your homes (if not already) look lovely for this beautiful time of year. Enjoy your Autumn decorating~

Candle Review

The last couple of days it has been rather cool and crisp out. Especially first thing in the morning, the feeling of fall has slowly made it's way into my house. I love to burn candles that smell like fall to help get me more in the mood to decorate for this season. So I decided to try a new candle that Walmart sells...I was a little hesitant due to my dislike of Walmart candles. Their quality isn't that great and they don't really fill the room with fragrance. Today I am doing a quick review for Candle Cottage in the Pumpkin Jubilee scent.

A warm and hearty scent of ginger spice and pumpkin complimented by the soft fragrance of butter vanilla puree. A true pumpkin lovers delight
Highly Scented Fragrance Oils
Long Burning Premium Wax
All Natural Lead Free Wicks
Handcrafted in The U.S.A.
Gatlinurg, TN.
12.5oz

I absolutely LOVE this candle! First of all the jar it comes in (mason jar) is super cute, it adds to that fall country look. The scent is amazing, makes me wanna eat pumpkin pie. The fragrance isn't terribly overpowering but it fills the room, more specifically, my kitchen. It smells like I've been baking pumpkin treats and it definitely gets me in the mood for fall. The Price is relatively cheap, I only paid $7 and some change for this lovely candle. There are a bunch of other scents to try, but if you wanna order more that your Walmart may not carry you can shop on their website.
So the next time you are looking for a good candle that won't let you down, you must try Candle Cottage~ candlecottage.com

We'll Never Forget

There are no words to express how our country suffered on this day. I remember I was sitting in class as a junior in high school with the rest of my peers watching this devastating news on tv. Some were crying, others just sat in silent shock, it didn't seem real. My heart aches for those who lost loved ones in this tragedy, I pray that God's love and peace will be with you on this day. May his arms be wrapped around you to comfort you like no one else can. I am so thankful that we serve a God who is with us at all times especially during times like these. God Bless America!

The Art of Simple Living

Proverbs 13:6-7
6. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7. There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

I have been thinking on the subject of simple living for quite some time now. We as the children of God are so blessed. Many of us, sad to say, take for granted these many blessings. We live in a society where having it all and more is everything. Everyone seems to have to have the lastest and greatest, no one can simply be happy or satisfied with living a humble life. Over the last few weeks my husband and I have been cleaning house. I don't mean the general chores that we all must do - sweep, vacuum, dust, laundry, dishes, but cleaning out of things that are simply unused and take up space for no good reason. I enjoy having my home kept clean and looking nice, decorations in their place and such but clutter is so distracting and is a major annoyance. Do you ever notice when you want to sit down and relax but your house is cluttered, you can't seem to exhale and feel content? I share in this realization that I can't enjoy the moment or my day fully, when things are in disarray. I have been working to clear out my house of clutter and get back to a more simple way of living. Having the things I cherish the most and of course the necessities in my home. Things feel so much more peaceful and light. I don't want to live a life where things just simply take up space, I want my life to be full of God, love, happiness, family, memories, etc. Life is too precious to waste it on monetary things that in the end won't matter. Instead let us strive to have a life full of what God wants to bless us with. When we cram our lives full of things we aren't leaving much room for God.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday yesterday. I had a wonderful day and you all made it so special with your phone calls and text messages. We enjoyed a nice lunch at Cracker Barrel with some friends from our church and then a restful afternoon with my two favorite boys. It was the best birthday any girl could ask for. I felt so loved and appreciated on my special day. Thank you Jesus for such wonderful family and friends!
